The City of Grosse Pointe began the process of updating the Master Plan in April 2012. A Master Plan, required of all Michigan cities, provides a guide for appropriate land uses, design concepts, and sets goals and opportunities for the City. This is the first update to the City's Master Plan since 2004 and the update is expected to take six months.

A Community Workshop was held April 23, 2012 to obtain initial community input into drafting an updated Master Plan. A visual preference survey was performed at the workshop and the results can be viewed by clicking on the link below.
June 18, 2012 - - The City Council will discuss priorities for the Master Plan. The discussion will be lead by the City Planner to provide direction to City staff prior to drafting of the Update. To view the Council agenda,click here.

To help promote future development in the Village shopping district and to provide a mechanism to fund public improvements that will support the vitality of the City’s central business district, the City Council created and established the Grosse Pointe Downtown Development Authority in July 2008.
The Downtown Development Authority Board Members are Andrew Martin, Chair, Daniel Aitken, James Bellanca, Amy Hartmann Taylor, Vice-Chair, Michael Kramer, Dan Lemanske, Jessica Pellegrino, Daniel Katz and Council Representatives Mayor Dale Scrace and Council Member Christopher Walsh.
The DDA Board met and created a Development Plan and Tax Increment Financing Plan which outlines the goals and projects which would be eligible for DDA expenditures in the DDA district. The DDA approved its plan on November 3, 2008 and submitted it to the City Council. The City Council approved the DDA Development Plan and Tax Increment Financing Plan and Ordinance on December 15, 2008. The DDA Board recently approved an amendment to the DDA Plan on December 3, 2012 which the City Council, after public hearing, approved the amendment on January 28, 2013.
