FINES/COSTS MUST BE PAID BEFORE TEN (10) CALENDAR DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE TICKET, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE VIOLATION. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SCHEDULE A HEARING, IT MUST BE DONE TEN (10) CALENDAR DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE TICKET.

An additional $35.00 judgment fee will be added after the ten (10) calendar days for failing to respond to the citation, which will ultimately result in the suspension of driving privileges and an additional $45 clearance fee on some violations.  Fees not paid within 56 days of hearing date are subject to a 20% penalty.

Use of Cell Phones or Electronic Devices During Virtual Court Hearings
There shall be no recordings of court proceedings without the Judge's permission.

Virtual court hearings are subject to the same rules as hearings conducted within court room. See MCR 8.115.

All cell phones and electronic devices brought into the courthouse must be on silence mode.  There shall be no recording or photographing of employees or the public on the courthouse, which includes the virtual court hearing, without their consent.

No one shall use a cell phone or other portable electronic device to communicate in any way with any courtroom participant including, but not limited to, a party, a witness, or juror at any time during any court proceedings.

Municipal Judge Background - Russell F. Ethridge has been the Municipal Judge since 1998.  He was first licensed to practice law in 1980.  For the majority of the last 24 years, the Judge has focused his practice on civil and criminal litigation and trial work. Judge Ethridge has resided in the City of Grosse Pointe for over 40 years.  He is married to Debra J. Wright, MD and together they have three children.


MUNICIPAL COURT
Pursuant to the Performance Measures Implementation Plan, the SCAO has posted the Grosse Pointe Municipal Court Performance Measures to its website.

LOCATION OF GROSSE POINTE MUNICIPAL COURT OFFICES
Court Offices are located at 17147 Maumee Avenue, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230. 2 ½ blocks east of Cadieux Road, and 1 block north of Jefferson Avenue.

The Municipal Court is located at 17145 Maumee Avenue, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230 next to City Hall and the Municipal Court Offices.

SCHEDULED MUNICIPAL COURT DATES
The Grosse Pointe Municipal Court is in session twice a month on Thursday beginning at 8:00 am.

GENERAL INFORMATION
To set up a court date, for general information or to pay a fine or ticket, please contact the Municipal Court during regular business hours. The Municipal Court accepts cash, checks, certified checks and money orders.

Per Michigan Court Rule 1.110:  Collection of Fines and Costs - Fines, costs, and other financial obligations imposed by the court must be paid at the time of assessment, except when the court allows otherwise, for good cause shown.

Per Michigan Court Rule 8.115 (3)(B):  Outside a courtroom:  In areas of a courthouse other than courtrooms, no one may photograph, record, broadcast, or live stream an individual without that individual's prior express consent.
