Parking

The City of Grosse Pointe operates a municipal parking system consisting of several off-street parking areas in all three business districts, as well as on-street metered parking areas.  These parking areas are intended to provide convenient customer parking for these shopping areas on Mack, Fisher Road and the Village, and provide adequate employee parking where possible (Village Parking Map and Mack Avenue Map).  These public parking areas are regulated and enforced to ensure these goals are met.  Revenues collected from public parking areas are placed in the City Parking Fund and dedicated to be used to maintain, improve and upgrade the parking system.

CURRENT PARKING SYSTEM STATUS
All on-street parking meters, off-street public parking lots, and The Village parking structure are operating as normal and being enforced.

NEW PAY STATIONS REPLACE VILLAGE PARKING LOT GATES
All parking gates to The Village parking lots have been removed and replaced with the same PASSPORT PARKING APP

To pay for parking, just follow these four simple steps at the pay station before you visit The Village businesses:

  1. Enter license plate number.
  2. Choose NEW SESSION or ADD time to an existing session.
  3. Choose your ZONE.
  4. Choose amount of time you would like to purchase.

You will never get stuck behind parking gates again!  However, keep in mind that failure to pay for your parking session could result in a parking ticket.  Click Here for additional information and to view maps locating parking lot pay stations.

PASSPORT PARKING APP - YOUR PASSPORT TO THE VILLAGE
The Passport parking application that has been available for use in The Village is now fully phased in and can be used to pay for parking at all on-street meters and off-street surface lots.

You can download the Passport application from either Google Play or the Apple app store, then look for the signs with the Passport logo below.  PASSPORT is available for use in all City parking lots and on-street instead of paying at meters or pay stations.  Use the parking zone number on the nearest light pole sign to start your parking session.  The convenience fee is only twenty-five cents and is not charged again when you add time to your session.

PASSPORT PARKING APP - PREPAYMENTS
The Passport parking application now accepts “prepayments” between the hours of 6 am and 9 am in all parking areas besides the parking structure.

This feature allows the parking customer to make a payment before parking enforcement begins at 9 am.  For example, if an individual arrives to a class or work at 7 am, they can pay at that time (before 9 am) and the amount of time purchased will automatically start at 9 am avoiding the need to remember to make a payment at 9 am.
