Rivard Street Repair Project

Rivard Street Repair Project
In 2021, Pro-Line Asphalt Paving of Washington, Michigan was unable to complete the work the City contracted. The remaining work to resurface Rivard Boulevard, from Jefferson Avenue to Maumee Avenue and from Kercheval Avenue to Charlevoix, is anticipated to begin Monday, April 18 weather dependent.  Pro-Line Asphalt Paving anticipates the project to take about 8 to 10 weeks to complete.  This project includes the removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutters, driveway approaches, milling off the existing asphalt surface, joint and base repairs to the existing roadway base, and the placement of a new asphalt wearing surface.

There will be no parking on Rivard between Jefferson and Maumee and Kercheval to Charlevoix during work hours of 7am to 6pm Monday - Friday except on Rivard from Jefferson to Maumee due to the large number of cars.  During the day, parking will be permitted on the east side of the street only during the first phase. Beginning Monday, May 16, parking will be allowed only on the west side of the street (Jefferson to Maumee) during the work hours of 7am to 6pm Monday through Friday. All cars parked on the east side of Rivard must be relocated no later than 7am on Monday, May 16.  Temporary access points through the construction zone will be installed to allow residents on the east side of Rivard to access their vehicles on the west side. No parking will be allowed during working hours on Rivard between Charlevoix and Kercheval. Traffic will be restricted to residents only on all three blocks.

Garbage pickup, mail delivery, and parcel delivery will not be interrupted. Please continue to place garbage at the curb on your regular day for pickup.

The City of Grosse Pointe will provide weekly project status updates that will be distributed to property owners every Friday for the duration of the project.  These updates will also be posted on the City’s website under the Public Services Department Capital Projects tab.  If you would like to receive these notices by e-mail, you can request to be added to the distribution list by e-mailing Christopher Hardenbrook at chardenbrook@grossepointecity.org.
