Neff Park - Parks and Recreation Summer Updates
Due to the State's current restrictions on indoor capacities, the City’s Parks and Recreation Office remains closed to the public.
With restrictions on outdoor capacity limits being lifted on June 1, outdoor group gatherings at Neff Park will resume without restriction. Neff Park group permits and pavilion reservation requests are being accepted with the normal limit of up to 50 nonresidents for each group permit. Rental request forms can be obtained from the City's website. Please call the Park Office (313.343.5257) for facility availability. Neff Park Gate Attendants began checking passes May 1. Please have your valid park passes available upon entry into Neff Park.
To obtain a new or lost park pass, the Parks and Recreation Office is offering park pass hours by appointment. Please contact the Park Office between the hours of 8am and 4pm Monday-Friday to arrange for an appointment time and confirm what documentation you will need to bring with you.
NEFF PARK SWIMMING POOL OPENED SATURDAY, MAY 29
In order to open Memorial Day Weekend, the City will have to adhere to current capacity restrictions set in place by the State and the Wayne County Health Department. Until June 1st, the Pools will have a 50% capacity restriction. After June 1st, depending on approval of the Wayne County Health Department, all restrictions for outdoor capacity limits will be lifted with indoor capacity limits increasing to 50%. As of July 1st, the state will no longer limit capacity at indoor or outdoor gatherings.
For Memorial Day Weekend, pool usage will be monitored by a counter located at the entrance to each pool. Due to the recent loosening of state restrictions, the City will not require advanced registration for open swim. Open swim hours will be from Noon to 9pm.
Residents are asked to come ready to swim as the locker rooms will not be available for changing purposes. It is highly recommended that each patron bring their own pool chair. However, pool chairs will be available, provided they are disinfected by residents before each use. Sanitizing stations and outdoor showers will be made available on the pool deck.
Please visit the Parks and Recreation Main Page for details and hours of Open Swim
For the safety of staff and residents, the City will be taking the necessary precautions to maintain proper social distancing amongst staff and users.
Senior and Immunocompromised Swim Time
In order to accommodate vulnerable populations within the City, a special swim time from 11am to 11:45am will be offered each day. Individuals over the age of 60 or those who are immunocompromised will have exclusive access to the pool during these hours. No advance registration is required.
